Current Device Preferences

Device preferences answer the question “how does this device feel best to use?” — they are not global account rules. Desktop, phone, and tablet can each have their own habits.

For example, the desktop might prefer landscape, dark mode, and denser lists, while the phone might work better with a simpler entry point. They serve different contexts and don’t need to be identical.

| What you’re facing | What to check first | Next step | | --- | --- | --- | | You don’t know where to start | The current page title and main entry point | Pick only the one item related to your current goal | | The result of an action is unexpected | Status, empty hints, access history, or sync progress | Go back one level and troubleshoot step by step | | You’re worried about affecting data | Backup, sync, account, or permissions notes | Stop first, confirm the scope, then continue |

If a setting only affects the current device, don’t treat it as a sync issue. Adjust it on the device you’re using now, then observe the experience on that device.

After reading this section, go back to the task you were working on and pick just one minimal action to continue: record an input, check a status, or open a relevant setting to complete a confirmation.
